Nvidia RTX 5060 Won’t Have 16GB VRAM – That Rumor Was Fake

Fake Leak Sparks Confusion 🎭

A viral TikTok video recently suggested that Nvidia’s upcoming RTX 5060 would come in a 16GB VRAM variant, alongside an 8GB model. However, this claim has been debunked by Chinese tech site Benchlife and well-known leaker MEGAsizeGPU.

The video in question showcased what appeared to be Zotac-branded RTX 5060 and 5060 Ti boxes labeled with “16GB.” However, these were nothing more than altered last-gen RTX 4000 series packaging. The biggest giveaway? The boxes still listed “DLSS 3,” even though Nvidia’s latest Blackwell GPUs support DLSS 4.

What’s Really Coming? 🎮

Current reports indicate that:

  • RTX 5060 Ti will come in 8GB and 16GB models.
  • RTX 5060 will only feature 8GB VRAM.

Benchlife further claims that sources within Chinese graphics card manufacturers have confirmed that no 16GB version of the RTX 5060 is planned.

Is 8GB VRAM Enough? 🤔

While the rumors about a 16GB RTX 5060 have been put to rest, the bigger concern is whether 8GB of VRAM will be sufficient for modern gaming.

  • The RTX 4060 had 8GB of VRAM, and its limitations at 1440p and beyond were widely criticized.
  • The RTX 5070 is rumored to feature 12GB, meaning Nvidia could be repeating its old tiered VRAM strategy.
  • GDDR7 memory will provide speed improvements, and Nvidia’s Neural Texture Compression could optimize VRAM usage, but support for this tech is still limited.

Launch Timeline ⏳

The latest speculation suggests that the RTX 5060 series could launch as early as March 2025. With more leaks expected in the coming weeks, we should soon get a clearer picture of what Nvidia has planned.
