Apple Intelligence Breaks Down Language Barriers with Live Translation

Apple is taking a bold step toward making global communication effortless. With the launch of its new AI-powered Live Translation, built directly into Apple Intelligence, conversations across different languages are now more natural, private, and seamless than ever before.
Whether you’re on a phone call, chatting on FaceTime, messaging a friend, or speaking in person, Live Translation makes sure nothing gets lost in translation. Messages can be typed in your language and instantly delivered in the recipient’s language. On FaceTime, you’ll see live captions appear on screen — while still hearing the authentic voice of your friend or family member. And during phone calls, translations are spoken out loud in real time, allowing conversations to flow naturally.
Apple has also made it easy to start translating on the go. With AirPods Pro 3, a simple gesture — pressing both stems — activates Live Translation. You can also say, “Siri, start Live Translation,” or use the Action button on iPhone. Active Noise Cancellation automatically lowers the speaker’s voice, making translations easier to hear and follow.
All of this happens with on-device processing, meaning translations are private and protected — your personal conversations stay personal.
Live Translation is available now with iOS 26, iPadOS 26, macOS Tahoe 26, watchOS 26, and visionOS 26. By the end of the year, support will grow to include even more languages, such as Italian, Japanese, Korean, and Mandarin (Simplified and Traditional).
With Apple Intelligence, breaking down language barriers is no longer a dream — it’s part of everyday life.
